Welcome to the David Thompson Phenomenon

My name is David Thompson and this is my website, the David Thompson Phenomenon. But, contrary to what you might reasonably expect, it's not a website about me. The David Thompson Phenomenon is all about other people called David Thompson: the many varied and interesting people who just happen to share my name.

So prepare to be introduced to a fascinating range of people who have absolutely nothing in common except their name. It's a journey that will take you from the most remote parts of Canada and the darkest depths of the Universe to Tellytubbyland via Elton John's cupboards. Before long you will reach the conclusion that David Thompsons make the world a better place to be.

You will notice that the David Thompson Phenomenon includes some David Thompsons who choose to be known as Dave Thompson. I can't begin to understand why anyone would want to reduce the crisply rhythmic name of David to the sullen, whining monosyllable of Dave, but I thought it would be heartlessly cruel to exclude them.

The David Thompson Phenomenon is an open-ended project, and I will keep adding more David Thompsons to the website whenever I can be bothered (which isn't all that often).
