It was the Waltzinblack annual holiday and we stumbled upon a familiar place. So just for fun we made our own version ... (it's the Waltzinblack quads!)

...Ends ...

You are viewing, as the name suggests, a web site dedicated to one of the most underrated and ignored bands of the last 30 years. The Stranglers formed in 1974 with original members Hugh Cornwell, JJ Burnel, Jet Black and Hans Warmling. By 1975 Hans had left and Dave Greenfield had joined the line up.

This line up lasted until 1990 when Hugh decided it was time to leave. He was replaced with Paul Roberts on vocals and ex Vibrators guitarist John Ellis.

In 2000 John called it a day and was replaced by Baz Warne. Interestingly enough Baz used to play with The Smalltown Heroes, who supported The Stranglers on a previous tour.

The Stranglers have had many support acts but by far the best were The Smalltown Heroes - although we quite liked Headline.

Although not critically acclaimed by the music press, The Stranglers had a massive influence on other bands who were excited by the original Stranglers sound and in particular the driving bass of JJ Burnel.

Anyway enough of the history. On this site you will find discographies of all recordings (studio, live, compilations, singles etc) plus some original free downloads for you to either enhance your PC or web site. Also under the Lost Lyrics link there are many official lyrics that have never been published.

Check out the Rarities section - you may be able to help to increase the content and make this the most comprehensive record of Stranglers imports etc.

So, in 2006, Paul decided to leave The Stranglers to concentrate on his new band Soulsec. This left the band as a four-piece once again, with JJ and Baz providing lead vocals.

JJ was quoted as saying that The Stranglers should have always been a 4 piece band, & Waltzinblack agrees
