A Tribute to Derek Rushmer |

Very sadly, Derek Rushmer who was a member of
Silver Birch for about 30 years died last year. About the time Derek began to become poorly with a brain
tumor, he recorded a set of songs at my home recording studio. He recorded guitar and vocal tracks and his intention was to bring in some local musicians to fill out the sound and make a complete album. Unfortunately, he became too ill to finish the project and it was left on the back burner. After the passage of some time, I listened to what Derek had recorded and I thought it was lovely and a shame that it never reached the ears of the outside world. I thought it would be a nice tribute to him if I involved some of his musician friends, as was his intention, to finish the album off and to donate any proceeds to the Macmillan Cancer Relief fund, which was very helpful to Derek & his family during the last days of his life.
