In October 2007, The Christian Motorcyclists’ Association had a stand at The Churches Together Event at Melton Market, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. We were approached by Brian Turner who asked if we could help or assist in arranging a ride on a Harley Davidson for his wife Doreen. No one in the local CMA branch had a Harley, but we agreed we would take Doreen out on a members Suzuki 800 Intruder (a Harley look-alike), and would confirm details in the new year. Simon Moore, a member of a neighbouring branch of CMA, and the owner of a Harley Davidson, heard about what we were doing and immediately offered to take Doreen on his bike. On Sunday 18th May 2008, members of the East Midlands Branch of CMA, together with Simon, pulled up at Doreen's house in Melton. We took Doreen via Oakham in Rutland, to Stamford in Lincolnshire, where we stopped and had cream teas outside at a local café. To have a ride on Harley Davidson was one of the things Doreen had on her ‘to do list’. We were privileged to be able to make her day come true.
A special thank you to Simon Moore , Pete and Krista Daniel, Colin Hewitt, and all those who came along to make this a day to remember. David and Elise Whittall On The Road For Jesus.
