Pam Wainwright is the mother and David Wainwright the father in the String Family, the other two members being Penny and Emily Beth.
Together they form the Spring Quartet, with Emily Beth and Penny now also branching out as the electric violin duo, Ponticello

Based in south Manchester, all the family teach music, with mum Pam  specialising in violin, viola, piano and voice tuition, dad David playing cello and bass guitar and providing cello, bass, bass guitar and guitar tuition. Emily Beth offers solo violin performance, and tuition on violin, keyboard and saxophone with sister Penny offering violin, viola and cello tuition in the Preston and Blackburn area.

The latest venture for the String Family is the publication of the beginner violin tutor, Your First Year Violin Course also known as The Yellow Book Mark III for which they have started the String Family Publications . The tutor book is the result of Pam’s many years successful teaching from single pupils to class-size groups of beginners on violin. She has taught several of them through to Music College or University entrance, and even some as part of their Higher Education course. Her original work has been revised, improved and added to over the years, with the new published edition (Mark III) introducing several innovative features such as the Alphagraph - you’ll need to see the book to see it!
