Church Interior

When one walks into the church, the first thing to catch the eye is the pulpit, situated in a central position, its highly polished wood reflects the colours of the stained glass windows which are mirrored in rainbow hues. The octagonal oak pulpit is adorned with fine carved panels.

The first panel depicts the head the evangelist St Mathew.  The second panel shows an angel carrying a banner (or scroll).

The evangelists Mark, Luke and John are represented on the third, fifth and sixth panels with carvings of mystical beasts from Revelations (Ch4).
The Lion for Mark
The Eagle for Luke
The Winged Calf for John

The centre panel, under the book board, which is supported by an angel, has for its subject The Lamb of God.

On the pulpit door is a magnificent carving of the head of John the Divine.

On the back wall is a collage designed by local artist, Ian Philips, to commemorate the Church’s 400th anniversary in 1991.

In front of the pulpit is the Communion Table and the Baptismal Font, focal points through the centuries of the church's most profound sacraments.
