Protect Your System Now - follow these few simple steps
1\ Run Windows Update to ensure that your pc has the latest Patches and hotfixes. Run this manually to check that it completes successfully. Click here.
2\ If you have Windows XP and not already done so update to Windows Service Pack 2.
3\ Install an Anti Virus Product, for personal Use there are some very good free products, I prefer AVG click here to download. Anti virus is key for any PC, Laptop and should be installed on all versions of operating system. **Always insure that your AV definition files are up to date as new viruses are released daily.**
If you are having problems with you AV products you can always use the free online AV scanner on the left. or try PandaScan Online.
4\ Get rid off all that spyware and stay clean, Install Anti Spyware from Microsoft. It will also reset your internet explorer.(For any of you who have popup's or strange homepages load every time you open internet Explorer). Run a FREE online spyware scan and cleanup. Click here for X cleaner
5\ A Firewall is important, would you leave your house unlocked?? Windows XP comes with a built-in firewall you can turn on see here, but if you prefer a full solution, Again for personal use free versions are available i would recommend Kerio Personal Firewall( the product is full version for 30days and then automatically changes to the free version, so no need to subscribe).
