On the extreme left of the photograph - taken in 1943 on the occasion of Alfred Day's wedding, are my grandparents, Joseph and Frances Harriet Day. Alf, in uniform, is standing next to his mother and seated in the middle of the front row is 17 year old Betty Day. Four years after this photograph was taken, granddad Joseph passed away (18th December 1947) and just two years later (12th January 1949) grandmother Frances joined him. |
