Local Press, June 1920, "On Thursday of last week the officials, committee and players of the Droylsden Football Club were entertained by Mr. T Howarth, chairman of Droylsden District Council, and Councillor J Docker, to an excellent repast at the King's Head Hotel. After the bill of fare had been thoroughly enjoyed a musical evening followed. Councillor Howarth presided over the evening, supported by Councillor Docker and Mr. E Hampson, president of the Droylsden Football Club. The chairman complimented the team on it's remarkably successful season, a season which had seen the victorious Droylsden club carry every honour the Ashton Amateur League had to offer. A feat which no other club had achieved since the formation of the Ashton League. The chairman then wished them every success for next season. Councillor Docker and Mr. Hampson responded. During the evening the programme was contributed to by Messrs. J Yates, T Kelsall and Mr. C Axon. Votes of thanks were heartily accorded to Councillors T Howarth and J Docker for their hospitality. |
