Eyam

Date:     29th September 2002
Distance:  Miles

Map:      OS Outdoor Leisure 24

Toilets:     Car park
Refreshments: There is a choice of cafe/restaurants in the village although we stayed faithful to the guide book and had our usual mixed bag of refreshments outside the Eyam Tea Rooms.

The day started... well of course it did. 'Somewhat dull' I was going to say, and having seen a man about a piano we set off for a walk regardless. On entering the valley around Eyam it seamed brighter as if the light had been trapped the way light behaves in a Terry Prachet Discworld novel. That observation out of the way it appeared that Eyam was the centre of attention for anyone driving an open top MG. The highly polished cars were the highlight of what turned out to be a very dull walk. The best of which was the climb out and decent back into the village. The section between was just featureless and uninteresting, made worse by the weather. Progress was slow because this was the day we chose to let 2 year old Charlotte stretch her legs. Yes we left the Papoose. Yes I can testify that they are worth the money.

Ah, the Inaugural Goodnight Sweatheart Run, I'm no wiser.

If this is your car, or you were at the event please drop me a line

Ladywash Mine, the washed out suggestion of a view to the left was typical. A 360 watercolour day.

Mompessons Well, the only reference to the plague outside the village itself.

The nicest part of the walk was this all too short decent through a deep, dark, wood. I'm going to have to stop reading bedtime stories.
