This walk is a flat walk along the two waterways of the Trent and Mersey Canal and the River Trent. The other notable pairing are the Norman style churches of Swarkestone and Barrow upon Trent which provide clear way makers for which ever leg of the walk you happen to be on.

A beautiful Norman style church and the angel statue is worth a closer inspection.

Swarkestone lock on the Trent and mersey Canal. If have time to wait, barges pass through this quite often.

Melanie took this one. Note the careful angling of the camera to exaggerate the length of the boat!

Long boat folk seem a friendly bunch. Everyone we spotted waved back.

Swans on the River Trent. Not bad for a Digi camera.
