A choice of cafe, pub and ice cream van

place then at the top of a seemingly unnecessary climb - but worth
it for the view. |

This walk has it all, yes I know we've said that before, but this was a real gem. A steep wooded incline to start, a scenic high level section, a viaduct, the above mentioned refreshments and river valley walk to bring it home.

OK, so this was hard going for a two year old but the gain in height was worth it

The Hill Fort across the far side of Monsal Dale looks impressive the whole way round.

The valley carved by the river as seen from the viaduct.

The views from Monsal Head makes it easy to understand the popularity of this spot.

Unfortunatley the route in the guide book does not provide the best view of the viaduct, however it isn't too difficult to work out an alternative.
