Photoflora Information

This site displays a selection of my photos of wild flowers and the places where they come from. It includes plants from the alpine and subalpine areas of western and central Europe as well as Mediterranean species from Portugal, Spain, Cyprus and species from the diverse habitats of two of the Canary Isles. It also includes a selection of species from the Cape area of South Africa.

Over 600 species are currently illustrated. These form a part of a personal collection totalling about 10,000 photographs and 2,000 species.

The photographs are supported by a number of indexes for each region as well as for the whole site. The indexes are arranged in alphabetical order of:

• Family name then Species name
• Scientific (Latin) name
• English or local name
• Location name
• Species reference number
• Picture reference number

The other information pages explain features of the Photoflora including:

• an explanation of the photograph captions
• a brief explanation of how the photograph images were produced
• details of the book reference sources.

This web site is a work in progress, with new features being developed which will extend its usefulness as an identification resource.
