cardiff city 2 - 0 sheffield wednesday

the bluebirds continue their excellent recent form with a dominating home win against sheffield wednesday. a goalless first period saw cardiff control the game but with no breakthrough. the opening goal came early in the second half. roger johnson's strike took a heavy deflection which wrong-footed owls 'keeper lee grant and the ball trickled into the net. joe ledley's burst into the box was ended unfairly by sean mcallister and chopra extended cardiff lead from the spot. chopra could have had his second late on but was adjudged to be offside when he tapped home a shot that had been kept out with a combination of 'keeper and post.

ipswich town 1 - 2 cardiff city

cardiff claim their first win at portman road for 62 years as they continue to push for the play-offs. jay bothroyd put the bluebirds ahead after just 9 minutes. paul parry's run and cross from the left was centred by routledge and bothroyd hooked home past richard wright. the game winner came on 26 minutes with parry turning provider again. this time his free-kick sat nicely for gyepes and he struck clinically with his left foot. it was the hungarian's first for cardiff and his first in english football. jonathan stead pulled one back for the home side just before half-time, heading in walters' cross. however, ipswich's task was made harder when ben thatcher received two yellow's within minutes of each other for twice fouling wayne routledge midway through the second half.

burnley 2 - 2 cardiff city

ex-bluebird steve thompson snatched the win away from cardiff at turf moor. the scot, who joined burnley from cardiff earlier this season, made the most of roger johnson's failed attempt to clear the balll by smashing home the host's equaliser. the clarets had taken the lead through robbie blake after 15 minutes. cardiff pegged back through jay bothroyd just before half-time, then routledge put the bluebirds ahead just after the re-start. steve thompson then popped up with the equaliser to haunt his former employers.

cardiff city 2 - 0 preston north end

cardiff climb into the play-off places thanks to a convincing home win against fellow play-off hopefuls preston north end. roger johnson opened the scoring just before half-time, climbing highest to head in a free-kick from the right. cardiff pushed for a second and were given the opportunity from the spot when bothroyd was upended by mawene after cutting into the box from the left. michael chopra made no mistake from the spot, killing the game off with only 15 minutes remaining.
