cardiff
city 2 - 0 sheffield wednesday
the bluebirds continue
their excellent recent form with a dominating home win against
sheffield wednesday. a goalless first period saw cardiff control the
game but with no breakthrough. the opening goal came early in the
second half. roger johnson's strike took a heavy deflection which
wrong-footed owls 'keeper lee grant and the ball trickled into the
net. joe ledley's burst into the box was ended unfairly by sean
mcallister and chopra extended cardiff lead from the spot. chopra
could have had his second late on but was adjudged to be offside when
he tapped home a shot that had been kept out with a combination of
'keeper and post.

ipswich
town 1 - 2 cardiff city
cardiff claim
their first win at portman road for 62 years as they continue to push
for the play-offs. jay bothroyd put the bluebirds ahead after just 9
minutes. paul parry's run and cross from the left was centred by
routledge and bothroyd hooked home past richard wright. the game
winner came on 26 minutes with parry turning provider again. this time
his free-kick sat nicely for gyepes and he struck clinically with his
left foot. it was the hungarian's first for cardiff and his first in
english football. jonathan stead pulled one back for the home side
just before half-time, heading in walters' cross. however, ipswich's
task was made harder when ben thatcher received two yellow's within
minutes of each other for twice fouling wayne routledge midway through
the second half.
