Rich has occasionally noted that Stu is strikingly similar to Ben Watt out of 'Everything But The Girl'.

Here, at last, is definitive proof of his claims.

*'Stewart Lee'**'Ben Watt'*Here we see
the famous
moon-stick man,
Stewart Lee
from TV's 'Fist
of Fun'.

And here is Ben Watt from 'Everything But The Girl' getting an idea for another song.

*Photo from 'Lionel Nimrod's Inexplicable World'*

Here's a publicity photo from Stu and Rich's days in 'Lionel Nimrod's Inexplicable World'.

As you can see Rich is not nearly as fat as he is now.

But look at his face! He's all grumpy!

Back in those days both Stu and Rich were sarcastic and curmudgeonly. However, they knew that to achieve real success they had to invent some artificial differences between them.

So Rich had to put on over 20 pounds in weight and wear a cheeky grin all the time.

Within weeks, the comedy duo were given their own television series.

*Rich selling The Big Issue*Every year Richard Herring goes to the Edinburgh Festival.

He tells everyone he's put on some play or doing a comedy show with Stewart Lee.

This picture from the 1996 festival reveals the truth!

He does in fact spend the whole festival selling copies of The Big Issue and he always comes away with a lot more money than he started with, unlike Stu, who has wasted all his putting on a show.

This is the UK's greatest living playwright Patrick Marber.

Stu doesn't like Patrick Marber very much and was once pulled over by the police after driving round and round the Elephant and Castle roundabout in south London, in his buff metallic 1973 Hillman Avenger, shouting out of the open window "Damn you! Damn you to hell, Patrick Marber!"

Patrick Marber has been instumental in the runaway successes of Christopher Morris in 'The Day Today' and Steve Coogan. We should all be grateful that we are alive at the same time as this brilliant genius.

And here is a rather ragged looking Stewart Lee.

Surely he must have known he was going to have his picture taken? Couldn't he have made some effort in his appearence? Apparently not...
