ROBERT MIDGLEY 1868 - 1927

John and Ann Midgley’s fifth child, Robert, was born in Duggleby in 1868

It is unclear where the young Robert (aged 2) was on the census night of 1871. He was not at home, with neighbours in Duggleby, or with either set of grandparents (assuming the census enumerators did not make a mistake). He was entered as a scholar in March 1881 (aged 12), although his schooling may have been part-time - enabling him to work as a casual farm labourer. He was away from home in 1891, presumably working as a farm servant, but was working in Duggleby as a farm labourer in the summer of 1892.

Robert Midgley married Fanny Mook in August 1892.

Robert and Fanny Midgley had six children: Olive, Stan, Cecil, Ida, Donald and Sydney.
