| So
What if... hail from Newport,
South Wales. For those with bad geographical awareness, or Americans,
Newport is an industrial coastal town in the UK renowned for its
hard edged music - Dub War, 60ft Dolls - in a country that
has been producing some of the best rock music of the last decade
- Stereophonics, Manic Street Preachers, Catatonia.
At the heavier
end of the musical spectrum, So What If... have always
remained true to the music they know best. While other bands
skipped from music fashion to music faux pas, So What If...
took the time to perfect their brand of razor sharp metal into
what you hear today.
Bringing in contemporary
influences while calling on the traditions of classic rock and
metal, So What If... deliver an electric, eclectic style
of metal that dances from out-and-out rifferama, through funk,
reggae and punk back to rifferama.
The
music of So What If... is intense and exciting. De-tuned
to D, the guitar of Gary
Leigh and the bass of Andy
D'urso lay out phat and furious rhythms over the twisted
thunder of Aaron
Evans' drums. Heads down riffs split into funk breaks
and reggae backbeats, but the energy never drops below 100%.
Over the top of
this sonic assault David
McLean spits vitriol and spite, the MC of madness in
a world spinning out of control. But you need to hear this for
yourself dontcha?
