The Norfolk Archery Association is affiliated to the Grand National Archery Society (GNAS) and has ten member clubs located in various parts of the County. It is its policy to promote the sport of archery by means of informing the public, arranging introductory courses and advising on equipment requirements.

The County caters for archers of all levels of proficiency, from the person who wishes to shoot purely for fun to those who want to attain the highest levels that the sport can offer(World Championships and Olympic Games). Norfolk has had several British Target Archery Team members in the last few years.

Introductory courses, which are run by individual clubs, range from five to six weeks at one session per week. Fees vary from club to club. (The clubs have members who are able to instruct the beginner in the art of archery.) When the course has been completed and the newcomer wishes to continue in the sport, they will be expected to obtain their own equipment, will be advised on their requirements and where the equipment may be obtained.

A word of advice/warning at this point: should you wish to enrol on an introductory course with one of the clubs, DO NOT purchase any equipment until you have sought advice from the club, as equipment of incorrect specification can easily be purchased with the result being a waste of money.

When you have obtained your own equipment and joined a club as a very keen and eager archer, there will always be somebody willing to advise you on how to improve your shooting. You only have to ask.

Once you feel confident enough, the County runs three tournaments each year, the clubs run their own competitions and there are numerous events outside the County for you to enter, should you so wish.
