Not to be confused with Vat 69 which is a whiskey, this is a red rum from the West Indies. I have heard that it is made by filling empty rum barrels with water and letting the remains on the side of the barrel infuse. Don't know if that's  true - if it is I'd like a jar of the stuff on the inside of those barrels ! Only available in N. Ireland and West Indies as far as I know. There is a white version of Vat 19 avaliable, a normal white run, but is harder to come by.

Review of Vat 19
OK on its own but it compliments Coca Cola  extremely well. I went through a bit of a Vat 19  & Coke phase for a while and was drinking rather too much of it. Known in N.Ireland as the "Pope's Phone No.".  If you like rum then I recommend you try it as its quite smooth. If you aren't a rum drinker then give it a try with lots of Coke at first - you may just like it !
