2512cc Opel 8V CIH Competition EngineTiming, Ignition and Engine ManagementThe timing system uses the crankshaft pulley, with integral 60-2 toothed timing wheel, and timing sensor from the 2.4i Frontera. The sensor bolts onto the bottom of the oil pump cover. An Emerald Distributorless Ignition Engine Management Unit is used to control engine operation. This system uses a throttle potentiometer, coolant temperature sensor and air temperature sensor, together with the timing sensor, and provides fuelling and ignition maps, with 16 load sites and 24 speed sites, which are altered for air and coolant temperature. Set-up software for the system runs on from a 32 bit MS Windows based computer. The speed sites are in 500rpm steps up to 12,500rpm, and the load sites are evenly spaced between idle and full throttle. This management system has both a soft and hard rev limiter, and driver's shift light option. The original ignition distributor has been cut down, to remove the distributor head, which was then capped. What remains of the distributor unit is retained, and used to drive the oil pump.
