As you can see from the picture on the right, this engine was first built up, and run in, on twin 48 DCOE Weber carburettors.  However, having seen the After-Market ignition and injection systems coming into National level competition during 1999-2000, I decided that this was the way to go.  The obvious reason being that the exhaust manifold is so close to the carburettors, causing problems with heating the fuel and air flowing into the engine.

The inlet manifold is a Ray West Racing 2.2L racing manifold, on which a pair of Jenvey Type TH 48mm throttle bodies will be fitted.  We will be using 330ccm Pico Injectors (called pico because they are only 47mm long).

The new Road/Competition fuel tank is specially made, when full holds about 60 Litres, and has a drain/sample valve which when used will reduce the fuel content to about 15 Litres for competition purposes.

You can see the fuel injection system in more detail on the main Ignition/Injection pages.

The tubular 4-2-1 exhaust manifold was supplied by Ashley Performance Exhausts.  The 2.75" three box exhaust system was specially made by Tony Law Exhausts, of Leeds.  Each silencer box can be opened up and re-packed as necessary.  Unfortunately, I no longer have any pictures of this exhaust system, but it is similar to that for my new 2002 2.5L engine.
