The lecture!

Listening to learn something about the music is a bit more than sitting with your feet up and relaxing or going to the disco and dancing. The aim is to learn how the music was made and having the right words to describe what can be heard. This is active critical listening. This kind of listening can help the composer to find ideas and the performer to make better sounds through understanding their music.
