What is it and why is it different?

Sabretooth is a battle exercise.
Many of the exercises that you will go on are made up of 'serials'. A serial is an organised event designed to test or practice your fieldcraft, navigation, campcraft and weapon handling skills. Sabretooth has no serials and anything could happen. During the exercise, you could get a contact at any time, day or night. It is as real as it gets.

What do I need?

You will receive a comprehensive kitlist from your platoon commander. Stick to it and don't bring extra kit. You will have a difficult enough task carrying all your kit, your rifle, your ammunition, food and water. Other than that, you need your courage, team spirit and a ton of common sense

What happens?

From the minute you arrive to the end, you need to be on alert.
You sleep when you can, you eat when you can.
You keep your rifle next to you, making sure it is clean, safe and ready for use.
You will have to take your turn on sentry.
You will go out on recce patrols.
You will go out on a standing OP patrol.
You may be part of a key point defence.
You may be part of an attack on a fortified position.
You may be fighting through a wood.
You may be clearing an enemy out of buildings.
You may sweep through a marsh pushing enemy patrols ahead of you.
You may be part of a fire support group providing back up on a company attack.
You may spend hours on ambush.
You may be crawling up to a suspected enemy camp at three AM.
You may be rudely awakened by an enemy attack on your base at dawn.
It can get pretty real

How does it work?

Your unit will team up with three of the other units in 10 Regiment to form a Battle Group. The Battle Group will form sections and you will train as part of that section under your section commander. On arrival at the training area, it begins! There is no time to stop and look around!
