Photographic Background |

|
In 1981, I was the founder member of EME (Arnold) Photographic Society (part of the East Midlands Electricity Head Office Sports & Social Club). The Club was affiliated to the North & East Midlands Photographic Federation (N&EMPF). and during its 10 year life was a very friendly and successful society with an average membership of 25. Among the many highlights perhaps the two most notable were EME (Arnold) winning the Derwent Trophy in the 1988 N&EMPF Exhibition and qualifying for the PAGB Club Slide Championships in Warwick in 1989. During the 10 years in EME (Arnold) I held many offices but joint Chairman and Programme Secretary accounted for 8 of the years. After privatisation of the Electricity industry and changing personnel within the Club, the Society was closed in 1992. I subsequently joined Eastwood Photographic Society where I held the offices of Competition Secretary and Exhibition Secretary. In 1996 I joined Arnold & District Camera Club. In 1985 I joined the N&EMPF Supplementary Judges List, graduating to the N&EMPF senior list in 1986 and the Alliance Judges List in 1995. I must confess that of all the activities I do, visiting clubs to judge is one of my most enjoyable. I can not see enough images and the variety of work always stimulates me. I also very much enjoy acting as selector in Open Exhibitions where the quality of work is extremely high. In 1986 I was elected an Ordinary member of the N&EMPF Executive and have held a number of Executive positions:- Exhibition Secretary 1987, 1988 and 1989; Portfolio Secretary 1990 and 1991; Vice-President 1992 to 1996; and PRESIDENT 1996 to 1998. In March 2006 I was elected as 2nd Vice President and am the N&EMPF Webmaster. My interest in photography started through Fell Walking, so have always had a particular interest in Landscape Photography I have now converted to Digital and take a wide variety of subject matter. I have been a judge since 1987 and elected to the PAGB Alliance Judges list in 1998. In march 2006 I was awarded the APAGB which was one of my proudest moments.
