Esteban is the son of the 'travelling foreigner' that we heard about in the story. He was rescued from a sinking ship by Mendoza when he was a baby.

In Spain he was taken in care by Father Rodriguez. The Spanish believe he has power to control the sun, so the Spanish would constantly hoist him up high to bring the sun out, this gift gets them out of trouble from time to time but Esteban does not believe he has the power to command the sun.

Esteban has a fear of heights , but he over came that fear when he was flying the golden condor.

Esteban has a Medalian of a cresent moon, Mendoza, when he rescued him took the peice that connects to the cresent moon called 'the sun'. This medalian is the one of the keys to the City of Gold.

Esteban quest is to find his father who's was searching for the Cities of Gold, so he follows his fathers trail to find him and they have other adventures on the way.

Zia is the daughter of an Inca priest Papa Kamayo . She was took away from he father by Governor Pizzaro because she has the ability to translate the Quipu whihc is an form of communication by the incas using strings and knots in them.

Zia has the Medallion of the sun, like Esteban is a key to the Cities of Gold, it was handed down from generation to genaration of her family. She is a kind and caring person but tends to judge all spaniards the same. Unlike Esteban who trust Mendoza, Zia think he is just after one thing, Gold,

Zia is a brave person she has risked her life on many occasion such as when she gave her self up to the Spaniard to save the Mayan Village, but she believes that friendship is the most important than the Cities of Gold when she allows the Olmecs to enter the City of Gold to save Tao's life.

Tao is the last remaining descendant of the ancient civilisation of Hiva. He lives on the island of Galapagos in a tree house built by him, his father and his grandfather. His only friend on the island is a parrot called Kukapetl.

Tao is the brains of the group, he carries an encyclopedia which has the knowledge of the Heva people. He like to plan what to do before hand and doesnt like Esteban's 'jump in and think what to do later' way of thinking, but he follows him anyway.

Tao has lived with the legend, handed down to him, that a girl with dark eyes (Zia) will lead him to the lands to the east.

Tao is also brave which is not shown as much but to save the Mayan people he destroys the Solaris (a giant ship made by the Heva people which uses the sun to power its self) from the Spanish.

Mendoza sailed the sees with the great Spanish explorer, Ferdinand Megellan, from whom he learnt the skills of Navigation. On one trip during a storm he saw a sinking ship with a man and his infant son (Esteban) he dived in and rescued the man before the ship went down. Mendoza saw the child has a Medallion and he took the central peice.

He took the boy to Barcelona and Esteban didnt know that is was Mendoza who saved him. Mendoza returned to Barcelona one day and offered to take Esteban to search for the Cities of Gold, because he thought he has a link with them.

Mendoza is very clever and cunning, he tends to talk his way out of situations, even when every one thinks he is no longer needed a situation comes up and he uses his cunning to take control. He is brave and will go to any lengths to rescue his friends from trouble.

He kidnapped Zia from the Queen of Spain, because she could read the Quipu and he believed that she could lead the way to the cities of gold. Only Esteban trust Mendoza for some reason, Zia on the other hand believes he is just after gold which at first is right but his character changes at the end and he starts to think of them than just links to the Citys of Gold.

But at the end of the final episode you see that he still took some gold from the City of Gold and hid it when the Olmecs had took the secret to the control the sun.

What can i say about these two, well there main goal through out the series it to find the Cities of Gold and they are selfish and think of gold than others. They are both cowards and complain all the time and tend to need to rest more times than every one else. They are useless, i dont know why Mendoza needs them. If they think gold is ahead they will do anything to get it.

Pedro, he is the one that looks like a monkey, the cleverest of the two but that is nothing compared to every one else. He always talks about finding gold.

Sancho is the fat one, he is the follower of the two. He is clumsy and is always stuttering.

Gomex is a military commander he was put in charge to find the citys of gold aboard the Esperanza. He was responsible for Zia being kidnapped by Mendoza because he thought she would be able to find the cities of gold. Later in the series he teams up with Captain Gaspard to find the 3 Children.

Gaspard was the Captain of the guard on the Esperanza, He is told by Pizzarro to find the children and they shouldnt return without them. He joins forces with Gomez to find the children.

Gaspard has a score to settle with Mendoza ever since he met him on the Esperanza and will try to settle that score when ever he meets him, but is usually told to wait by Gomez when Mendoza is of some use.

Menator is the "God and Soul of the Olmec race. The leader, the Olmecs are an ancient race. He is over 100 years. The Olmesvs are a highly advanced race that can produce flying machines and a crystal to use the suns power to power there machinery.

He plans to use the cells of the children and implant them in his race to save them from exstinction.. He also wants to find the cities of gold to find the secret inside which we later find out is the Sun power unit (can harness the power of the sun).

The high priests mission is to protect the cities of gold from attack, the responsibility is handed down from generation to generation.

The Story of the Travelling Prophet: A stranger arrived at the shores of Peru (from an unknown place), in (circa) 1519. He fell in love with a young Inca woman, they had a child. The Inca girl was a priestess serving the sun god. "Angered" by this the sun-god hid behind the clouds and refused to shine. The priest sacrificed the woman to appease their god. The man and his son were cast into the Pacific Ocean on a ship, similar to that on which he arrived. Before he left, the stranger said that "the place where the god of the sun, and the god of the bright star cross there will be born the sacred emblem of the sky." After handing his infant son to Mendoza during the storm at sea, the man returned to the mainland.

The high priest went to the burning shield mountain where the Sun Power Unit was. He tells his men to not follow him, Mendoza enquires to why he they do not follow he finds out that the real High Priest died three years previous and the man known as the Travelling Prophet (Estebans Father) replaced him.

The High Priest said a final goodbye to Esteban. He decides not to tell Esteban about that he is his father. He tells Esteban that he does not know where his father went. .

He follows the hole dug by the Sun Power Unit, his clock sets on fire from the heat of the sun power unit, he uses ever last bit of strength to put the Jar (the key to the sun power unit) to put the Jar into the machine. By doing this and the heat knocks over the priest supposely to his death and he saves the Earth and manking from destruction.

Dr. Fernando Laquerra or his common name of the "Doctor". He is a explorer like Mendoza that is searching for the cities of gold with his parter Marinche. They collected on manuscript that leads to the city of gold when the met with the children who had just found a second manuscript.

Marinche is a native woman who is gready for gold and will not stop to find it. The Doctor and Marinche planned to poison a who village to find gold that is at the bottom of a lake. Marinche can also partially understand the Hevan manuscripts, unlike Tao who can understand the whole manuscript.
