I lost interest in railways
when steam finished on B.R. in the late 1960`s. However on a trip to West
Yorkshire in 1977,
I came across the Keighley
& Worth Valley Railway. I quickly became hooked on steam, for the second
time, on a memorable
journey behind 0-6-0 USA
tank No.72 uphill from Keighley to Oxenhope. As I stood at the open
carriage window next to the
locomotive it felt as though
I was actually on the footplate. This loco is pictured above at Keighley,
in its later BR livery and No.30072.
Summer holidays from that
time were arranged around visits to preserved railways!
This gallery features my rambles around the UK Heritage Railways since 1977 .
