LATEST NEWS 2008 2005 2002 January 2002: "The Prisoner's Dilemma" opened at the Pit, Barbican. The play has gained considerably in its impact and significance since the events of September 11th and this was reflected in the reviews. 2001 November 2001: The premiere of "Morlang" took place in Amsterdam. The film had already picked up two awards at the Cairo film festival the month before. Buena Vista distributed the film in Holland but no distribution was yet confirmed for the UK. "Love in A Wood" toured to Newcastle for its final week. July 2001: "The Prisoner's Dilemma" opens at the Other Place, Stratford. June 2001: "Love in A Wood" opened in May and is currently in repertory at the Swan Theatre, Stratford On Avon. "The Prisoner's Dilemma" by David Edgar is now in rehearsal and will eventually be performed at the Other Place in Stratford. "Nicholas Nickleby" was screened on BBC1 on two sundays during the Easter Weekend. At the same time, "Jason & The Argonauts" was given a screening on Easter Sunday. "Morlang" was given a private screening in May in the UK and has been submitted for the Berlin Film Festival. Jan 2001: Diana is about to begin rehearsals for two Royal Shakespeare Company productions. One is a new play by David Edgar, the other is a revival of a restoration comedy by William Wycherly called "Love in A wood". 2000 2000 was a busy year for Diana. She appeared in a British television adaptation of a classic, an American made-for-tv epic drama and an independent Dutch film shot in Holland and Ireland. JASON & THE ARGONAUTS was made by Hallmark Productions with a distinguished cast of British and American actors including Frank Langella and Dennis Hopper. Diana played Polymele, the mother of Jason, and the reluctant consort of his wicked uncle (Dennis Hopper). Filming happened on location in Turkey and at Shepperton Studios. Diana especially liked working with Hopper who, despite his old hell-raising reputation, is an art-lover, an interesting cultured man and a very professional actor. NICHOLAS NICKLEBY was a new adaptation of the Dickens novel by Martyn Hesford with a cast that included veterans like Charles Dance, Liz Smith and Gegor Fisher as well as bright newcomers like James Darcy in the title role. The production was filmed in Yorkshire and the east end of London. Diana played Mrs Nickleby, a typical Dickens eccentric, and generally enjoyed the experience. MORLANG was an original screenplay written by its director and supported by Dutch film funding. Diana played the wife of an artist (Paul Freeman) who believes she is dying of a brain tumour and is tricked into a false suicide pact. Susan Lynch also starred as the artist's lover. Diana spent a lot of time in Holland, rehearsing and filming, during the making of it and it reinforced her affection for the country. It was altogether a year of variety, with Diana switching from a greek chiton to a victorian bustle, as well as being prosthetically made up to look like a marble statue (for JASON) and a bald cancer patient (MORLANG). Unfortunately none of these productions have yet been seen in Britain. The epic was shown on American tv in the spring, the adaptation will be screened sometime this year and the film is currently in post production. 4.01.01 |
