Thorpe Cloud in Holly Bush Ride the Home of Miss Stewart in the early 1950's and later Col Wright to the 1960's

Winklands House at the end of Holly Bush Ride before Public Footpath went under the railway arch leading onto Swinley Forest Golf Course

Earlwood Manor Belonged to the Cornelius Family then lay vacant for a while. I can remember a large summerhouse and a formal Roman Type fishpond where we played as children later the estate bought by Lilly and the house used as offices

North and South Lodge rear entrance drive to Earlwood going through the middle of the Gate House from Bagshot Road
(Arch is now bricked up and used as a rooms)

Windlesham Moor Princess Elizabeth and Prince Phillip lived here when they were first married before Elizabeth was Queen.
Billy Butlin the holiday camp man owned it in the late 1950's early 1960's

Glenhurst the house on the corner of A30 and School Road owned by Maj Kimpson. As children we thought house was haunted as you we rarely see
anyone go in or out of it. Sometimes you see a old Rolls Royce type car come out of the large wooden gates to the stables in School Road

Windmill public house next door was Bert Owens Garage. Opersite the Windmill was the Police House

Moor Place Hotel I remember going to a dog show in the grounds with my sister when I was very young

Thomsons builders Bill Thomson built some of the houses in Poplar Ave in the early 1950's and other houses in the area. My father worked for him for many years.
I remember he bought and hired out some JCB diggers when they first came out. Later becoming a builders merchant only

Bee public house The landlord in the 1950's until the mid 1960's was Dick Robinson. Dick a lively character would not have a jukebox or fruit machines in the bars. When a passing motorist came into the pub
and asked about a meal Dick replied this is a pub for drinking in if you want food there are plenty cafe's in Bagshot, but you can have a packet of crisps.
The pub was very poplar with the farmers Jack Wooldridge and Arthur Knight and their workers. Also I remember coaches of people from London would stop for a few drinks on the way home from the seaside

The Corner Shop owned by Tom Connely in the 1950's built the same time as Poplar Ave by Mr Elson in 1930's

The three shop round the small green were
1 Fish Mongers Shop for a short time late 1950's Shop built buy Thomson Builders
2 Mrs Stevens wool shop in 1950's to early 1960's
3 Private Book Libary in late 1950's
(All the above shops are now gone converted to houses)

Windlesham Primary School the head master in the 1950's was Mr Cyril Matthews.
The teachers I remember are Miss Kite, Miss Lillicrap and Mr Hughes.
Mr Matthews garage had an old penny farthing bicycle in it. Also the school was very old with outside toilets and a coke fired heating boiler

Woodcote School private boarding school the head master in the 1950's was Mr Patterson and still is family owned.
The school had a rugby field in Snows Ride on other side the road from the school.
(Field now as houses built on it)

Maternity Home many local people were born here closed in 1960's.
(Now a pre school and nursery.)

Matthews Corner Shop and Garage.

Boyce Fish Mongers Shop not sure if I remember this shop converted to house before 1950.

Main Post Office untill 1970's then converted to house.

Frowmows Home Farm Nurseries in the 1950's until early 1960's horse and carts were still in use with Fromows's nursery.
Mainly trees were grown in this part of the nursery. I can remember a tree with cork type bark we used to punch and not get hurt.
Frowmow's employed some Italian men who stayed after the Second World War I was told (Possible POW's).
The two cottages in School Road is where some of the workers lived.

The church as had a new church hall built at the side and acquired more ground for burials off the public footpath behind the vicarage since the 1960's

Warners Garage were B.M.C and later Austin Rover agents

Hall Grove Lodge where Mr and Mrs Hopkingson lived. Mr Hopkingson ran a local milk round for a while in the late 1950's.

Hall Grove House owned by two sisters Lady Mead in the 1940'/1950's.

Hall Grove Farm owned by Jack Wooldrige. In the 1950's it was a busy farm with a dairy herd and grew many crops and potatoes.
(Now Hall Grove Farm Industrial Estate)

Lutin Farm owned by Lumley Family Managed by Arthur Knight.
This farm had a large dairy herd, crops were grown in the fields between Bagshot and Windlesham.
(Now Windlesham Golf Club)

Icehouse this was a deep round room under ground where food would be stored.
Ice was collected from the boating lake in winter to keep the ice house cold.
(The Icehouse may now have been filled in as it had a large dangerous vertical drop just inside the entrance)

Hall Grove House Boating Lake.
In the 1950's the lake become overgrown and muddy but a good place for ducks and wildlife to live

The Half Moon public house as been run by the Sturt family for a few Generations.
(The pub as been extended and is much larger than in the 1950's)

Cricketers Bridge tee junction with Traffic lights on A30 to Bracknell turning.
This was a traffic bottle neck at holiday times as a main road from London to the west country.
Also I can remember a few cars and an army tank crashing over the bank down to the railway track below.

Russels Nursery famous for Russels Lupins this was a working nursery for the trade only in the 1950's and 1960's

Windermere a large house with a lake in the grounds where some of the village children went swimming with out the owners consent.

Westwood House as children we went fishing in the lake we called Pikes don't now why. If the gardener saw us he would chase us off.
(House rebuilt it is now much larger)

Savannah this house was built in the 1960's for a Arab family

Fox Hollow was built about 1960 for Mr and Mrs Lett where they ran a heather nursery. Built from old oak beams in Tudor style
