Oyster in Zeeland

ShieldAnchoring & free Moorings in Zeeland,

General

Bottom quality is usually fine sand or smelly mud!!! so a deck hose is really essential, particularly where there is not a great current flow to keep the bottom clean.
One of my favorites St Phillips land, go up Krabben creek to the head and anchor to the north side of the fairway. Little passing traffic, an occasional barge goes to the Town Quay and the sand quay at the head of the creek, only normally arriving at high water. St Phillips land
Looking back to Veere town This is not the picture of the Anchorage..but follow this link for Veere Anch. It is beyond the town off the fortifications, in 10 Mtrs,
Kats Veer, outside, on the sea side of the zandkreek dam, care is needed at low water springs as a shoal exists across the way in from lock silt. Depth LWS about 2 Mtrs over the shoal. Kats veer anc
I have been trying to find pictures of other favorites,
such as the basins at the top of the Grevelingen meer, haven Middleplaat,& haven Springersdiep, both with Anch, and also free quaysides.

Also not to be missed is the basin at Betonhaven at Neeltejans, convenient to visit the Museum of the flood and delta works, which is nearby

Free Quaysides

Most lock quays offer free overnights, but the quay at Bruinisse in & out are not particularly good for overnights unless urgent, due to likely arrivals in the night.
The Krammer Sluis inside & out is quite good, with in being much more protected, but there is more space at the Volkerrak Sluis in high season.
The Bergesediep Sluis is particularly pleasant, but not of great size, great in off season, good potential Anch in Zoomeer

My own personal favorite is at Benedensas, on the old piles, it is a bit of a string out to tie to them but is good & sheltered, even in the roughest of weather.

Although not realy in Zeeland , but included here as is a good mooring when going there from inland.Another firm favorite is the Quaysides of the locks to the Biesbosch, only useable for overnighting after closing time for navigation, but quite beautiful

Ottersluis This is the one on the main biesbosch side but there is another on the Dortdrecht side as well, both extremely well sheltered & delightful.

More challenging Anchorages

One of my most favorite southern Netherlands ones is behind the Ossinisse sand bank at Perkpolder, in the Westerschelde, (51 2436 N 4 050 E, or there about) a little rolley at high water but as the tide drops the bank gives shelter.

A great beach Anch, east of VH 8 near Breskens, with an overnighter, in settled periods near (51 2267 N 3 3922 E)

Send me your favorites!! to add to these

from Henk Aarden of www.bluebayou.nl .

1. Before the lock Goesche Sas at the right side. You can stay there 3 X 24 hours at the pier.

2. Anchorage at Tholensche Gat. When you pass the buoy TG12, don't go to the Bergsediepsluis (you can overnight there as well at the pier before and after the lock), but go to the left. On the map you see the depth of 12 and 18 meters.

2. When your height isn't more than 3 meters, you can go further on the Steenbergse Vliet and tthere is a mooring at Bovensas. A very nice place (a smaller lock than Benedensas). You can stay there 3 X 24 hours and it's good fishing there.

3. Further on you are on the Roosendaalse Vliet and at the right site of the water there are a lot of small moorings.
