Woking Model Flyers - Gliding

The Woking area does not have any decent slope soaring sites, and our current flying site is not suitable for thermal gliding due to the surrounding trees and the maximum height limitation imposed on us by nearby Fairoaks Airport.

Never the less, there are a couple of local(ish) slopes, one at Guildford and one near Dorking, which work well when conditions are good.

Gliding experience will greatly improve your flying abilities, particularly in those 'Dead Stick' situations. If you would like to give this a try, contact Dave Ayers or Jim Townsend for more information. A 'beginners' glider set up will cost about £100, including radio receiver and battery + servos, but for a 'trail' flight, I would be happy to let you have a go using my either Zagi (Good for beginners & fun, almost indestructible!).
