David Cross was once the violinist in one of the classic 70's King Crimson line ups - don't ask me to give you a history lesson, I don't know, well before my time - He plays on some of their best albums, that's all I know... but then this isn't really a solo project, this is very mucha full on band, a very relevant band that sound very much like King Crimson at full power and with all that edgy danger. There has been talk of giving the band a 'proper' name, Grinfixer has been suggested and they really do sound like a band called Grinfixer. It's a King Crimson thing that never falls into the trap of wallowing in nostalgia. Testing To Destruction is a weaving mix of King Crimson, Voivod Jagedness, bendy bendy Cardiacs and the occassional mellow Floyd-like lanscapes, epic keyboards, duelling guitar and electric violin that swirl around each other like manic bees. Each one of the instruments has a place to speak, everything is balanced, nothing dominates. John Dillon is an excellent frontman, his lyrics are blistering, there's a raw nervous edge...hey look, we could go on for ages and ages...put simply, this is one of the best Prog feasts you'll ever hear...it has moments as good as any King Crimson album and hey, you've got that 7" stuck on the front of this Organ...a live track recorded off the mixer that proves we're not exaggerating here! The address is 29 Beethoven Street, London, W10 4LG, UK. Just get your hands on it and never miss a gig...you missed teh one at the Monarch didn't you...we won't tell you about it, it'd be too much for you! Why didn't I get to go on tour!
