25th Anniversary - 1st August 2009
Gourock Karate Club was founded 25 years ago on Saturday 1st August 1984.
The original instructors were David Gillies and Ian Pow.
1st class was held on Wednesday 4th August.
36 new students were training that night.
46 members have achieved black belt.
16 members have become Scottish Champions.
1st black belt was Gerry Gillen
1st female black belt was Erica Clark
1st junior black belt was Steven Gillies
1st 2nd Dan black belt was Grant Brown
June 1988 - affiliated to the KUGB
January 1989 - 1st KUGB grading with Sensei Andy Sherry 6th Dan.
March 1989 - 1st course with Sensei Frank Brennan 4th Dan.
June 10th 1989 - 1st course with Sensei Terry O'neil 5th Dan.
December 1989 - 1st course with Sensei Keinosuke Enoeda 8th Dan.
March 1990 - 1st course with Sensei Bob Rhodes 5th Dan.
April 1991 - 1st course with Sensei Jimmy Brennan 4th Dan.
