A LOCAL CHURCH AT THE HEART OF THE COMMUNITY

ABOUT US

The Harrowgate Hill Christian Fellowship is an assembly of The Apostolic Church, a denomination founded in 1915 as a result of the 1904 Welsh Revival. We are working in over 40 countries around the world.

The Apostolic Church is a Pentecostal and Evangelical Church, and is a member of the Evangelical Alliance.

Our National Headquarters is in Swansea South Wales and our Bible College is located in Penygroes, Llanelli, South Wales.

There are 135 Apostolic Churches in the United Kingdom and many other churches have become affiliated with the Fellowship.

We are a local church at the heart of the community and are based in Crosby Street in the Harrowgate Hill area of Darlington, where we have been since 1948. We form part of the Northern Region of The Apostolic Church which consists of six other assemblies from Middlesbrough in the South to Newbiggin and Newcastle in the North.
The ministry team consists of a lay minister supported by a leadership team who share in the ministry and administration of assembly activities. We are also supported by a full time minister who resides in Stockton and who is also the overseeing superintendent of the region. We actively support a drug rehabilitation centre in South Wales and missionary ventures in both Malawi and Ghana.

VISION

What We Believe
Our Tenets

We believe the bible clearly teaches that God made man in His own image to be in perfect union and fellowship with Him setting him over all the works of His hands. However through disobedience Adam became a sinner for which he suffered estrangement from God - lost his dominion over all creation and came under the influence of Satan.

The power of this influence soon became apparent as Cain - the first born of humanity - killed his brother, thus making him the first murderer, but despite mans' rebellion against God's commands, such was God's love for him that He provided a remedy whereby his sin could be atoned for and communion restored.

This atonement [or covering] was only temporary for God's love for mankind was and is so profound He would settle for nothing less than full restoration of the perfect union He had with Adam before he disobeyed, so He [God] provided a way whereby man's transgression could be - not just covered - but blotted out completely. The way He chose was to send His Son - Jesus Christ, born of a virgin - to die in our stead that we, by identifying ourselves with His death, might be forgiven and freed from the penalty of sin which is eternal death, becoming heirs of eternal life instead. This then is the message we believe and preach, a message of HOPE to a condemned world that repents but eternal judgment for those who refuse.

That last phrase is one of great contrast, and may even conjure up a feeling of disapproval - maybe even resentment at the mention of the word "Condemnation"- which implies guilt or wrongful accusation, but this is the choice facing every one of us. We either confess we are sinners in God's sight believing that Jesus took the punishment in our place, on which grounds we will be forgiven of our sins and receive the gift of eternal life, or we choose to refuse to believe we are sinners and in need of a Saviour and suffer the inevitable consequence - which is separation from God forever. God has vested every one of us with a free will by which we alone will determine out eternal destiny. Consider these rather poignant words of C S Lewis the well-known author. (1898-1963)

"In the end there are only two classes of people, those who say to God now - "YOUR WILL BE DONE" and those to whom Christ will say on the day of judgment "YOUR WILL BE DONE"

Yes dear reader, this may appear to be a solemn note to end on but truth is truth whether we like it or not, to quote C S Lewis again, "God will send no one to hell, all those who go there do so because they refuse His terms for heaven."

MAY God incline your heart to think seriously about this matter but remember the words of the apostle Paul who lived in the first century AD:

Heb 9:27: "It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment."
