The Familiar Groove
My friend drains his young barrel,
Glazed by purple scenes and dreams,
His life a tightrope,
Clockwork mouth,
Playing tapeloop phrases,
Body of a translucent spectre,
Haunting the drunken images,
Of yesterday's mind,
In a barren landscape,
A sickly cycle beckons,
The edge draws nearer,
The debt pushes closer.
But is this flawed jewel,
Set in an indelible future?
