Xi Beach
8 kilometres south of Lixoúri on the Palikí peninsula, incredibly fine red sand, shelving really gradually, making the water warm, safe; perfect for all.
Tavernas, sun bed and unmbrella hire available.
You can walk for ages along the beach, occasionally wading knee-deep around rocky outcrops, with views of Vardiana island and south west mainland kefaloniá.
The cliffs - shown above - are made of a soft, cumbly grey material called Glina and if you mix it with sea water you can make a paste which can be applied to the skin and forms a mudpack, rumoured to have rejuvenating properties.
