LAKE DISTRICT - XMAS 2006

We rented a cottage in the village of Braithwaite, nr Keswick for Xmas week with big plans to do lots of hill walking. The weather didn't play games though for most of the week with low cloud, mild temperatures and rain at times.  This was after a super start, because when we arrived on the Saturday, the forecast for the Sunday (Xmas Eve) was for cold temperatures with foggy conditions at valley level. This looked promising as the odds were that this would lead to 'temperature inversion' conditions and that it would be possible to climb out of the clouds into sunshine.

So, waking up to a dismal looking Xmas Eve morning, we put on our full cold weather walking gear and set off  (rarther hopefully) up the 3mile climb to nearby Grisedale Pike. The results are below. A fantastic day out - pity the rest of the week didn't do as well!

Pictures of Grisdale Pike walk and a couple more pics of a walk in Borrowdale later in the week.
