St Charles Church and School

Moorside Road

Swinton

My family had a strong connection to St Charles Church and School.

Mary Ellen Rushton (O'Rourke)

ran the mothers union there for some years receiving a Benemerenti from Pope Paul VI.

Mary Ellen Rushton (nee O'Rourke)

The School dates back to 1885

The new school was built by the parents of the children attending the school in around 1927.

Here are some photo' s of family members from St Charles,

 and also from George Swetman

George attended St Charles and has very kindly donated these photographs of himself  to display on this website.
