They say that from small acorns, giant oaks grow. Well in the case of Resistance 77 there's a period of growth spanning 21 years which has seen the four-piece punk-influenced Derbyshire group go from strength to strength. Since playing their first gig in 1980, Resistance 77 were first catapulted into the limelight when Bristol-based Riot City Records picked up on them and released 'Bricks in Brixton' on the Riotous Assembly compilation LP.
In November 1982 the group released their own EP - 'Nowhere to Play' - and sold 3,000 copies! During that time the EP also spent 11 weeks in the punk charts in 'Sounds', peaking at the number five spot.On the back of the hugely successful CD, Resistance 77 also shared the live stage with The Exploited, Four Skins and Flux of Pink Indians.
A change in band members was followed by the release of a couple of tracks on the 'Wet Dreams' compilation LP from Rot Records, and then we released our second EP, 'Vive Le Resistance'. The success of that EP was clear for all to see and in 1984 Rot Records stumped up the necessary cash for us to record a 12-track LP.
