The Parish church is one of the earliest churches in the area. Although most of the building as it stands today is Victorian, parts go back to the 14th cent (Beaumont Chapel) and the 15th Cent (Tower). St Bartholomew’s is nearly 110 years old. We are a Church that is active throughout the week, not just on Sundays. We try to provide for the spiritual needs of the whole community, helping people of all ages encounter God. We aim to help all our members grow in their faith and live out their Christian faith in their day to day lives, serving those around them. There are groups for children and young people, groups to socialise together and others to study the Bible or pray. There are groups for parents and toddlers, for young adults, indeed for every age. More details of these groups are on the next couple of pages. Our worship, which is also not just on Sunday, covers a wide spectrum, from the quiet prayer and Bible reading of our daily worship through the traditional to the contemporary. The music in our services reflects this variety. We are a church that exists to live out our faith in our community, to share that faith with any who would like to find out more and to support those who have particular needs. We believe God is important for our daily lives and everything we do is to build ourselves and others up to enjoy the “abundant life” that Jesus promised. Whatever your age or background, and wherever you feel you are on your own spiritual journey, we hope that you will feel welcome.

Welcome to our Web site
Whether you are looking to visit our services, coming to find out more about a wedding or baptism, a researcher for your family history - or are just looking out of curiosity you’re very welcome. People have been worshipping God in this area for at least 1300 years. We now have two churches in the Parish – St John’s (usually known simply as Kirkheaton Parish Church) and St Bartholomew’s, Grange Moor. We serve the areas of Kirkheaton, Grange Moor, Dalton and Waterloo. We hope this web site will give you some idea about us and what we do. If there’s anything else you’d like to know please ask. |
