Welcome to my Web site!

I was born on
Monday 25 October 1965, at 8.10pm, at the King's Mill Hospital,
Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, England.
My mother's
name is Jill McMurdo and she was born in 1933, and my father's name was
William Edward Lees, but known to his family and friends as Ted.
He was born on New Year's Day 1927 and died on New Year's Eve 2001.
There aren't many people that are born on the first day of one year and
die on the last day of another - he would've liked that!
My Mam and Dad
divorced in 1974, and my Mam remarried on 20 October 1976 to Richard
Arthur McMurdo, known to his friends and family as Mac.
I have three
sisters and one brother. My sisters' names are Jill, June and
Karen and my brother's name is Kevin Edward. Jill and June are the
eldest and are twins - there is just 10-minutes separate them. Jill and
June were born in 1951, Kevin was born in 1953 and Karen was born in
1955. I was born 10-years later, I think in an effort to try and
save my Mam and Dad's marriage, but obviously that didn't work!
Between them all, my three sisters and brother have had 14 children
between them, so obviously I am an uncle to 14 nieces and nephews.
Our Jill's youngest child, Jeremy Adrian, died in 1977, but I still
include him with my nephews. Between them all, my 14 nieces and
nephews have had 24 children, so I am a Great-Uncle to that many!
I was educated
at Morven Park Infants School, Jeffries Junior School and Ashfield
Comprehensive School, where I left in 1982 at the age of 16-years-old.
I achieved a basic standard education with basic examination results.
I started work
in straightaway after leaving school in 1982, starting a Youth
Opportunities Programme (YOP) at a local builders merchants in my
hometown of Kirkby-in-Ashfield. I worked as a sales assistant.
I worked there for about a year until I had to finish on the scheme and
started another YOP training scheme at a well-known electrical store
called Wigfalls, where again I worked as a sales assistant until I
started fulltime employment as a barman at the Coronation Social Club,
achieving the position of Head Barman before leaving in 1991. I
left the Club to start work at a well-known hosiery firm called Pretty
Polly Ltd, where I worked for about a year before having to leave
through ill-health, which has dogged me ever since.
