Benson 4's Dart League

History

This page will change as new information comes to light.
The first piece of information is from an email from Kevin Barefoot (for those who remember him) , who was secretary to the league several years ago, (long before my time into the area). According to Kevin, the League was founded by several people, Laurie Luker, Richard Luker, Bill Butler and Dave Taylor, but he doesn't know when.  The earliest record I have which is on an old trophy is 1987, so it is probably around that era.

The League then consisted of around 16 teams, mainly in the Benson & Wallingford area.  It then grew over a period of time to about 50 teams, within a larger area, with only the Oxford League being larger.

Unfortunately, we have lost a lot of the pub's that used to play in the league, due to no darts facilities or the building being demolished or redeveloped.
Thankfully, we still have a lot of characters left from that era, and I will try and get their views and opinions over the next few months.
I would like to thank Kevin for "getting the ball rolling" on our history and ask anyone who has more information to contact me.
