Pass Plus is a training scheme
designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) for drivers that have recently
pass their practical test. Its aim is to make you a safer and more experienced
driver with the added bonus of cheaper motor insurance discounts.

Pass Plus consists of a minimum of six hours training. There is no test at the end, instead you will be assessed throughout completing all six modules. Module 1 - Town Driving You will concentrate on town and city centre driving with emphasis on observation, judgement and awareness, keeping space around your car and being cautious - but not too cautious. Module 2 - All Weather Driving The aim of this module is to cover all aspects of driving in different weather conditions, including speed and stopping distances in:
You will be covering skidding, the causes of, prevention of and correction of. Module 3 - Out of Town Driving and Rural Roads This session will cover rural hazards (bends, hills, uneven roads, dead ground), Overtaking and Progress, observation skills (middle and far distance). The main differences from Town and City driving. Module 4 - Night Driving This session coves all aspects of driving in the dark, including; vehicle lighting and use, speed and stopping distances, visibility - seeing, reacting safely and parking. Module 5 - Dual Carriageways Dual carriageways are high speed multi-lane roads where the two carriageways are separated by a central reservation. This session covers joining / turning and leaving dual carriageways, overtaking, forward planning and observation. Module 6 - Motorways Motorways are unlike any other road. They have a
number of lanes, higher number of vehicles and speeds. There are also different
rules and signs that only relate to motorways. This session covers joining /
leaving, forward planning, observations, overtaking, breakdowns and safety
procedure.

The Pass Plus course is mainly aimed at new
drives, there is no age limit. Minimum of six hours to be completed. All Pass
Plus training must be taken after passing your test. Once completed the Pass
Plus certificate will be issued by the DSA.
