Massage has evolved from a combination of Eastern and Western traditions. There is evidence that massage techniques were being used in China, Japan, Egypt and Persia as long ago as 3000BC.

By far the greatest advancement of therapeutic massage recorded in history, was by a Swedish physiologist named Per Henrik Ling (1776-1839). He combined his knowledge of anatomy and physiology with massage and gymnastics to create what we know today as Swedish massage.
