Although retroroids ships in colour you can easily turn that off in the options menu for the truly authentic feel of old-time gaming. It’s been such long time since I last played the game that it’s hard to remember exactly what it was like. But Retroroids does a good enough job to bring back some old memories. - Tectonic

This was quite addictive, I kept having just one more game even though I’m not very good at it. The author mentions that earlier than XP is not supported but the DirectX version worked perfectly on ME although OpenGL didn’t for some reason. Nice and simple all-round, the only thing I disliked was the high-pitched shoot sound.

Yes, it’s a Space Invaders remake, and all said and done - it looks pretty sweet. I love the way the graphics are designed to make the game look like it’s running on an overlay. Neat touch.

Of course, it’s all in how the game plays and Dans remake is pretty smart. It’s also available in Mac and Linux flavours so you can’t really knock that. - Retro Remakes
