The sex will be inserted and stock will be entered in the Status box. Enter brother or sister will insert the same new entry but with all parent information carried to the new entry. Insert grand parents will search the database and insert the grand parents or correct a mistake if the wrong number has been entered. Insert lost entries will search the database, find birds that have been entered as a parent or grand parent, but have not been entered in their own right, and enter them for you with any information available.

This is the screen where most of the searching and sorting is carried out on individual birds. There are menu items and buttons to perform a wide variety of set searches. A list is produced from most of these facilities, and these lists can be further manipulated to produce any desired set of results. Double click any ring number field (Including Parents and Grand Parents) on any list and the program takes you directly to that bird, this is very useful when pairing up enabling you to find a particular bird in double quick time. For instance if you are pairing cousins, find a bird choose cousins from the Family Relations menu scan the list for a suitable partner and double click the ring number. Easy!!

This view shows some of the searches for Family Relationships available from the menu with just a click of the mouse.

This view shows more Family Relationships available from the menu.

This is the same Family Relations form but with the button clicked for information on the father. A panel has opened with colour and parentage information. This can be displayed for parents and grand parents. Note the father button highlighted in red.

A General search screen is provided for finding birds fitting your own defined criteria. Any combination of any fields can be found easily and quickly. Include the parents or grand parents and you can define your own obscure family relationships. The search as set on the form will produce a list of all dark green cock birds hatched between 1/1/98 and 1/1/99 which have been sold. As you can see this is a very versatile feature.

This is a list produced from a search for Brother and Sisters. All of the columns can be hidden or displayed for printing, so you only get what you want on the printout. Parentage and all other information can be seen by scrolling across.

Part of a list for the family of a particular bird. This is a very useful search, a list is produced showing the relationship to all it's relatives. This list can be quite long especially on the key birds.

Pedigrees are available in 3,4,5 and 6 generation all can be displayed in colour or in black and white for printing. A picture can also be attached. This is a three generation pedigree, some of the others are in a horizontal format to enable printing to a normal A4 sheet.

This is a five generation pedigree showing the horizontal layout. The screen can be scrolled to view the rest of the pedigree. The printout fills an A4 sheet.

Nest Box Card. Designed to be printed out and pinned to your nest box. The information is filled in ready for printing or you can choose a blank card and write your own information. Print on a standard A4 sheet, the bottom of the page will be left blank for notes.

Click In Breed on the Family Relations screen and this form is displayed, it shows the bird you have chosen to pair-up. Click Find a Suitable Partner and a list is produced showing all birds of the opposite sex and their percentage relationship to the chosen bird.

This is the list showing the percentage inbreeding factor. This factor is measured using an established formula that looks for common ancestors and calculates how many generation they are from the chicks that will be produced.

All pair information is stored in this section. Very little typing is required to set up a pair on the computer. Choose the birds on the main screen and click the appropriate buttons, the birds will be inserted into this section. Type a pair number this can be in any format, but must be a unique number. Type a cage number or letter depending on your bird room layout. Input a date, and the pair is ready for the breeding season. As the season progresses the eggs laid etc etc can be clicked into the relevant fields. This information is then used by the system to calculate a statistical analysis of your breeding.

Eggs etc etc. These fields allow the fast and easy entry of data for each pair, and each round. This is the data used for the calculation of numbers and percentages displayed on the breeding performance screen.

This section will produce a statistical analysis of the breeding performance (numbers and percentages) of the Cock, the Hen, or all pairings, with a graph for easy visualization of your results. You can clock through your results using the navigation buttons at the bottom of the screen. Filtering is also catered for to reduce your view to only a particular year, or cage, or in fact any thing you may want.

This screen will calculate the percentage inbreeding on the chosen pair and any possible chicks.

The results are displayed like this, or you can change birds and do the same calculation on an two birds in the stud.

Chicks. When you are ready to enter the chicks from a pairing. Type their ring numbers into these boxes and the hatch date in the date box click Enter Chicks and all the chicks will be entered into the main table the program will then show you the new entries one at a time form any further information or notes to be entered. All the information available such as parents, grand parents etc will be entered automatically. This is about as close as you can get to a self maintaining system.

Genetics. This is a feature unique to the aviary base set of programs. Forget the tables of expectations we used to have to use, this program will tell you the theoretical expectation of any pairing with up to four mutations on each bird. The feature is specifically designed for budgerigars, and includes all the mutations, even splits, double factors and rare varieties, but if you know the mode of inheritance of mutations on other species with a little substitution the facility is still usable. Choose your mutations from the lists and click Expectation and a complete list will be produced in seconds. I think you will be impresses. There is also a section of notes explaining some of the genetic terms for newcomers to genetics.

Finance. This section will enable you to keep a check on all the finances associated with your hobby. All of the fields in this section are fairly self explanatory. Some inbuilt searches are available for the more common queries, but the filtering and sorting utilities are available for a more in depth view of your finances.

The show standards section gives a description broken down into features. All the major varieties are covered. This is a useful aid to the beginner and can help prevent wrong classing.

Names and Addresses. This address book is built into the program for all your bird related contacts. It is very straightforward to use and includes searching and sorting facilities, which work in the same way as in the other parts of the program.

This is the show record section, but it's a great deal more than that. A complete description of the bird can be stored here using any set of criteria you prefer. Each of the notes sections can store 32k characters and the headings can be changed to suit your requirements. Weight and dates for hand reared parrots for example. There is also a new section for storing show data on a show by show basis, with plenty of notes space for your team and results

This show record section, is for keeping a record of shows entered. There is plenty of space for a great deal of show info.

The ailments section shows common bird ailments, their symptoms and treatment.

Choose a heading from the list and instructions on the subject will be displayed. It couldn't be easier.
