Plant an Olive Tree

Since 2000, more than one million Palestinian trees – including about 460,000 olive trees – have been uprooted by the Israeli army, to make way for Israeli settlements and the Wall of separation.

YMCA International – through a project called ‘Keep Hope Alive’ – aims to replant 50,000 olive trees in Palestinian territory and is sending volunteers to work with Palestinian farmers to plant them. Help is coming from many parts of the world – Algeria, Australia, Europe, the US, Japan and Peru.

One tree, including planting expenses, costs $20 – about £10.
Redhill Methodist Church hopes to provide for at least 100 trees.

This is an opportunity to express solidarity with Palestinian Christians to help them build peace in the Holy Land whose future is so crucial to the peace of the world itself.
