Man of the match - Craig Mcmorran (Now gold in standings)

Before we dive into the match report....in the news a few weeks ago we saw an exciting quote - “A FANTASTIC start to the game with Craig Mcmorran scoring after just 30 seconds!!! Craig now holds the record of the fastest goal scored for matrix.”.

Whilst the goal was indeed scored in just 30 seconds, alas for Craig, it was not him who scored it.

To ensure the rightful heir receives due praise - please all pay homage to the fastest goal scorer EVER for Matrixgrade FC.

Carl Woodward.

Back to the field....................Big freeze slows down the Bee’s

Sandhurst looked the better of the two sides in the first 10 minutes and took the lead after 15 minutes. Sinbad made a great block save to the first effort but Rob Petrie was right there to pick up the rebound and smash the ball into the top corner from two yards to make it 1-0.

This seemed to warm the bees up slightly and we gradually started to take control. Mcmorran was looking dangerous up front and Woody was making some good runs down the left. It was Woody who caused the second goal after some good work on the edge of the 18 yard box and he sent in a fierce cross which the opposition could only direct into there own net to brin us level. 1-1 after 30mins

Coming out after the break, the Bees took control in the second half. It wasn’t long before the whizz kid Mcmorran gave the bees the lead with his 5th goal of the season making it 2-1 at 60 mins.

Making his debut Jaimie Laws (Son of the famous Brian) came on and gave a very good account of himself down the right and was unlucky on two occasions not to score. The first was a volley that went just off target, the second on target but was foiled by a blatant handball on the line. Malc Cassidy had no choise but to give a penalty and Captain Lee Farmery stepped up to take the kick. He put it away, giving the keeper no chance . 3-1 after 75 minutes which pretty much sealed the deal.

Matrix may have missed a hatful of chances in the first and second half and really the score could easily been six or seven but going by the conditions we’ll settle for the three points.

Well done boys.
