Shaping up
For the first time in two months we were able to pick a team from an almost full squad. The shape and discipline was a lot better today but we still lacked the killer punch up front.
Borough worked very hard for the first 45 minutes and managed to keep our boys at bay, Ramsey came in today for his first game in the center midfield since August and looked like he was back to his old self. Jacko and Farmery were moved from the center mid, the Captain going to defence and Jacko out right - both doing a super job . (Half Time 0 - 0)
The second half started in the same vein, Matrix on top but still lacking the punch to up the final third. On 60 minutes changes were made, bringing on top goal scorer Witherington and Stevenson which gave us the breakthrough we were looking for. It wasn’t long before we broke their resolve and a great cross from the hard working Jacko found Smith who had made his way up from the back to give us a well deserved lead. (1-0 after 65 minutes).
With three forwards up front the Borough defence were under siege. Again, good work down the right from Jacko sent in a great delivery for Witherington who headed a great shot past the keeper but the ball hit the crossbar. He managed to pick up the rebound though and double our tally. (2-0 after 75 minutes)
A good all round team performance, consistency is what is needed - think about it lads.
