Senior cup & the old guard

Matrixgrade 2, Sandhurst 1

Goal Scorers - (M) Carl Wilson & Nick Waite

(S) W. Stark

Man of the match - General Jackson

Work commitments forced the bees into a change of formation, which the lads adapted to very well. I thought we played some decent football in the first half and really should have gone into the break 2-0 up. Two glaring misses from our centre forward Wilson helped keep this game in the balance. Sandhurst saw a lot of ball but apart from a long range shot, which the cat Sinbad saved easily they never really penetrated our back line too much. I thought the back line coped very well, with veteran Hamilton and Smith, with his first start for a month looked like they had played together all season. Half time 0-0.

Sandhurst came out the second half with a spring in their heels and were really determined to get something out of this game. Their forwards Stark and Mills worked very well together the whole game and for 20 minutes Sandhurst took control of the game. They took the lead through Stark 10 minutes into the second half.

We brought on Waite to change the formation which paid dividends immediately. We took control of the game and it wasn’t long before we hit the equalizer. It was Waite impact on the game and it was he who sent a great through ball for Wilson to lob the oncoming Smith and level the score. 1-1 after 70 minutes.

The Bees continued to turn the screw and although he had only been on 15 minutes. Waite hit a glorious winner into the bottom corner rounding off a very good performance. 2-1 after 80 minutes. After hitting the headlines last week with a cracking goal, Turkish delight Kosar lost his cool towards the end of the game getting himself a red card.

This week I’m afraid it’s got to be turkey (off with his head).
